We purchased this stick shift 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser from Smith Motor Sales in Cambridge, Ohio. They have a 4.8 star Google review which I thought was pretty solid for a dealer. Normally, I buy local but I read a lot of the reviews and after calling them, felt that this FJ was worth the trip. Everything works on it. A/C blows ice cold, heat works great, backup sensors are good, windows, radio, etc. It starts right up, runs great, clutch feels good and it shifts through the gears with no issues. Wheels could use a paint job, seat has a hole and the tow receiver has the tongue cut off it in but otherwise a good FJ.

When we brought it home, I replaced all four brakes calipers and rotors, cleaned the MAF sensor and put on two new rear shocks. I also spent a bit of time cleaning up the chassis. I did homework on whether or not to paint it with POR-15 or get NHOU undercoating done. I really wanted to have oil in all the crevices, frame rails, doors, etc. so I did not end up painting it and went straight to County Line Undercoating who also has great reviews.

Tony at County Line does very thorough work and I was really happy with the process. It is supposed to be done yearly and I was prepared to do that but my son did not enjoy driving the FJ, so it’s been in warehouse storage since November. Unfortunately, we live off of dirt roads. So when I went to wash the underside, I blew off the oil and you now see the flash rust. There is no rot that Tony or I found but it doesn’t look pretty, I’ll admit.

If you are looking for a good, solid FJ that has no issues, this one is for you. If you are looking for a southern truck with a perfect clean chassis, well then you might be disappointed. We personally would not have bought it for our son if we didn’t think it was worthy as I know about the rust issues with these.

Happy to show it anytime.
