Have you seen this video posted by Porsche December 8, 2016 on YouTube? A retort by Paul Grew-Shay.

To quote the writeup from them below the video:

“Have you ever wondered about the right way to pronounce Porsche? Or do you know someone who pronounces it in a wrong way? Be sure to let them know about this video.”

My reply:

“Have you ever wondered about the right way to pronounce Porsche?” Not since I was 14, lusted after them and decided it was important to try to say it right.

“Or do you know someone who pronounces it in a wrong way?” Yup, but I’d feel like a smug ass if I tried to correct them.

“Be sure to let them know about this video.” Are you kidding? I already feel funny about posting it to my blog – see answer directly above as to why. Don’t get me wrong, I get what you are doing and kudos for trying. But it’s not like you’re facing the launch of the Chevy “No-va” in Mexico, used to work at Fords, or gosh dang forbid, your dealer asked a woman what her husband would think when she walked in solo to buy a 911.

Enthusiasts know, don’t they? And new buyers should learn from your dealers. So, was this the result of a marketing study or last straw on an executive’s back during a werks reunion?

Maybe, and I’m just sayin’, if you want to lean on video to teach pronunciation you should actually say Porsche in your videos. I watched “FIA WEC season review 2016: history repeated.” which has almost 8 million views. This was by far the most on the Porsche YouTube channel followed by one that has drones in the title (no surprise) at 2 million and everything else running a close third in the thousands. During and after these gorgeously produced, intoxicating short films know how many times they said “Porsche”? Donut. Which incidentally is pronounced doughnut.
