Nope, I’m not talking about Mexican food, blue jeans or your PC hard drive. These three words are used to describe vehicle categories at the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance. The Concours, which was first held in its glorious setting on the shores of Lake Como in 1929, is now firmly established as one of the pre-eminent European events of its type in the world. Let’s take a deeper look at what it takes to slot a car into one of these categories.

The definitions from M-W.com reveal the following:

Authentic

1 obsolete : authoritative
2 a: worthy of acceptance or belief as conforming to or based on fact b: conforming to an original so as to reproduce essential features
c: made or done the same way as an original
3: not false or imitation : real, actual
4 a of a church mode : ranging upward from the keynote yadda, yadda… huh?
5: true to one’s own personality, spirit, or character

In other words, untouched from the day it was created or opposite of your first girlfriend.

Original
1 archaic : the source or cause from which something arises ; specifically : originator
2 a: that from which a copy, reproduction, or translation is made
b: a work composed firsthand
3 a: a person of fresh initiative or inventive capacity
b: a unique or eccentric person

Used in a sentence: Is that homework original? Yeah, what do you think, I copied it?

Restored
1 : give back, return
2 : to put or bring back into existence or use
3 : to bring back to or put back into a former or original state : renew
4 : to put again in possession of something

So… kinda like an Indian giver.
