October 16, 2011 – The Jalpa sold for $25,000.
There was one car that stood out at the farmer auction. It was that-them-there Lam-Bor-Gini. It’s got a V8! You would be surprised how many people in Hamilton, Ohio think and sound like they are from the deep south with that southern drawl. What’s up with that? You are in O-Hi-O.

It was a little disconcerting how most of the vehicles were tested before the auction. The car itself didn’t have spark and therefore wouldn’t run. However, on closer inspection the battery was dropped in the bonnet while the spare tire that usually covers it was left sitting loose void of tie-down straps. Similarly, the air intake tops that shield the four carburetors were void of their bolts. We’re betting the auction house pulled the tops to shoot ether for a trial start and then left them on a cow patty.
Overall the car presented pretty decent. The paint was crazying but many do at this age without elbowed wax. Accident damage might be evidenced by a repainted engine lid with enough orange peel to make a bowl of sugar glazed citrus strips. The interior smelled like teen spirit warmed over but was in good shape save a good rub down, lots of oil please. No rust to speak of… 23,000 miles… hasn’t run since 1995.
To own it you need to come up with $24,700 plus 15% buyer premium. At over $28,500 we’d rather find a clean documented one for $40K and call it a day.
