1980 Rover 3500 SD1 Sedan

Look… it’s not exactly cute or sexy and the interior reminds me of an old Buick.  But it’s got 60K miles, a 5 speed manual and has been really well kept.  One repaint.   Seems like small money for fun conversations and auto diversity.

On eBay in Lenexa, Kansas for a $2,395 opening bid and no reserve.

“Rare 1980 Rover 3500 SD1 Sedan (1,200 North American specification units produced for 1980 model year only).

Vehicle has been garaged since I purchased it in 1993 with 50,000 miles and I have personally maintained the vehicle since purchasing it and have kept the registration and insurance up to date.

White exterior was repainted professionally by the previous owner base coat/clear coat and the finish looks very good.  No evidence of prior collision damage and the only corrosion that I am aware of is a small bubble at the base of the right quarter window.  The vehicle has some scratches in the drivers door glass (see photos).  Tan interior is in good to excellent condition considering it is over 30 years old.

5 Speed manual transmission and no sunroof version.  Original 85 mph speedo/odometer has been replaced with correct 140 mph unit and the odometer readings total 60,501 miles.  The original AM/FM cassette radio operates.

Michelin MXV4 Tires have about 7,500 miles and new Nivomat rear shock absorbers were installed about 10 years ago.  The A/C was converted to R134 refrigerant and operates ok (slow leak).  The 3.5 Liter aluminum V8 engine is original and I have had the valve covers and oil pan removed for inspection and the inside of the engine is clean.  Engine has had only Castrol Syntec Oil since that repair.  The engine starts and runs good with no noises or vibrations and no leaks from any of the systems on the vehicle.  All fluids are clean and at correct levels.  The rear exhaust tailpipe was replaced recently.

Included are the original speedo/odometer, an extra radiator, aftermarket rear axle springs and Spax adjustable shock absorbers, an extra ignition distributor (functioning), an NOS Rover hood badge and all of the Rover 3500 SD1 Manuals, Sales Brochures and books that I have collected.”
