“I AM LISTING A 1972 PORCHE 914.

SOLID CAR ORIGINALLY FROM FLORIDA.

RUNS WELL, BUT TUNE UP IS PROBABLY IN ORDER.

I WAS RECENTLY DIVORCED AND I HAVE NO TIME TO FINISH THIS PROJECT.

THE CAR IS IN PRIMER RIGHT NOW.

HAS DUAL CARB SETUP.

GOOD SOLID CAR FOR A FUN PROJECT. PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND USUALLY PRETTY CHEAP FOR THIS CAR.

SUPER FUN TO DRIVE.

TARGA TOP!

I AM REALLY IN NEED OF A WORK VAN/TRUCK.

IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING I MAY CONSIDER A TRADE.

NEED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FROM IT’S CURRENT LOCATION ASAP.”

Yesterday I did my normal search pattern and came up with this one.  I called.  We talked.  I was the first.  I learned nothing more than the ad suggested.  The guy hasn’t seen the car is probably a year when he asked his buddy to store it at his shop.  Before that, he really didn’t have interest in the car because he bought it for parts that came with it to restore his other 914.
You might think if he had another car, he would have taken more note of the car he purchased.  Not really so.  Questions like “how’s the hell hole?” or “what wheels are on it?” were answered honestly with, not really sure.  He’s pretty sure it’s the 1.7 liter but it might be the 1.8.
He gave me the number of the shop owner to get more information.  I called.  We talked.  He was less than enthused.  Once you’ve lost 50 square feet of concrete to a “friend” who hasn’t given back a little something for the effort, it’s time to show the car the door. And maybe the friend too.
I spoke with the 914 owner one more time last night.  He was inundated with calls and forgotten we had talked for a moment.  He’s trying to line up 3 or 4 people to meet at the same day and time since he lives and works far from the shop.  I’m sure I could have sweet talked my way down there early with cash in hand and a trailer.  But in the end, I’m not sure I want to take a chance on ifs and buts that make candy and nuts.  One thing is for sure though.  The 914 market is hot.
