1960 Triumph TR3A

November 21, 2011 – The owner lowered the reserve during the auction but $3,300 failed to find a new owner.

November 16, 2011 – I bid on this.  It’s fun to bid on something when you know you’re not going to win. eBay outbid reminders come up in your inbox, you get to look back at the auction and wonder what if… what if I did something stupid.

The wife and I were at a silent auction a couple Saturday’s ago.  The host was going around auctioning off his Grateful Dead tie.  Proceeds go to charity. It wasn’t even a good looking tie but we got caught up in the bidding.   Strategic bidding I might add.  Noted by someone at our table, the bidding will end two or three tables down.  So chances I’d walk off with a $400 Grateful Dead were slim to none since others would bid.

Chances I’ll walk off with a $750 Triumph?  Slim to none.

On eBay in Medena, Ohio.

“YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 1960 TR3A TRIUMPH.  THE CAR IS VERY SOLID.  FRAME, BODY, TRUNK AREA AND FLOORS ARE ALL SOLID.   IT HAS BEEN IN DRY STORAGE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS.   IT IS COMPLETE EXCEPT FOR ONE SEAT BOTTOM.   HAS SIDE CURTAINS

MECHANICALLY THE CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION.   IT IS NOT RUNNING BUT THE ENGINE DOES TURN BY HAND.  BRAKES AND CLUTCH SEEMS FINE.  RADIATOR IS OUT OF THE CAR BUT WITH THE CAR.
THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR WOULD NEED TO BE REDONE.  WINSHIELD IS IN GOOD SHAPE.  CHROME IS FAIR .  DRIVER SEAT HAS SOME TEARS.
THIS IS A TR3 THAT WOULD BE AN EASY RESTORATION.”
